Neal Schlottman began his career as a construction worker in 1972. He enjoyed the work and wanted to move ahead in the field, so in 1981 Neal earned a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (Structural Emphasis) from the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology. He left Rapid City for 9 years. In that time, he worked for CB&I and Hercules Aerospace as project engineer or project manager on various assignments in the western United States including energy projects, the Golden Gate Bridge Deck Replacement, and a fully automated rocket motor manufacturing facility valued at $500,000,000. Neal is also a registered professional engineer licensed in South Dakota, Colorado and Utah. Neal manages all aspects of the company and serves as Project Manager on select construction projects.
Dale supervises and directs the diverse day-to-day activities of all elements of job site construction for his projects. He coordinates resource allocation across all projects. No project is too large or complex for Dale, as his organizational skills are second to none. Dale is a firm believer that nothing is impossible; it's been done before, or will be done in the future, and SECO Construction is more than capable of blazing the trail and doing it first.
Ethan has been in and around construction his entire life. The son of a long-time construction Superintendent, Ethan started early and grew up working construction during the summer seasons. Ethan started with SECO as a Carpenter providing seasonal summer help in 2005 and returned the following summer in the same capacity. Soon thereafter, Ethan decided to stay on full-time and quickly moved up the ranks into the office to work as an Estimator and Project Manager. Ethan estimates and manages many different types of commercial building projects. With a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from Black Hills State University, as well as a Master's Degree in Construction Management from the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology, Ethan supplies not only hands-on experience, but a solid educational background. Ethan stepped into his role of President in 2024.
Deb provides administrative assistance to the President and Project Managers and manages general office functions. She also provides accurate and timely accounting, including job costing, payroll, tax reports and payments, financial reports, accounts receivable and payable. Deb manages Human Resources and Insurance, and coordinates the safety program. Her warm personality greets visitors and directs incoming calls from clients, architects and subcontractors. Deb's work history includes 36 years of working financial experience with 10 years in the banking industry. This includes Supervisor of Bookkeeping Operations and the Trust Division Accounting Department. Deb is proud to be part of the SECO team, where the standard operation is honesty, integrity, respect and pride in projects.
Akira provides administrative assistance to the Project Managers, President, and Office Manager. She is currently studying Business Administration at Black Hills State University and is planning to graduate in 2026. Akira assists in writing contracts, purchase orders, payroll functions, and other odds and ends around the office. Akira's friendly and upbeat attitude is a great addition to the SECO team.
As a Project Manager, Calvin spends his time coordinating with Subcontractors and Superintendents, ordering materials, and making sure all projects stay on schedule. Calvin graduated from Technical School in 1994 after studying Electrical Trades. Calvin came to SECO after working for 20 years at Gedko as a Project Manager. Calvin brings extensive experience as well his friendly character and his dedication to his work at SECO. In his free time, he enjoys riding his side-by-side, fishing with his grandchildren, and spending time with his wife.
Will graduated from Wayne State College with a Bachelor's degree in Construction Management and Drafting/Design alongside a minor in Safety Management. With experience in commercial and residential construction, combined with his educational background, Will makes the perfect addition to the SECO team. Will analyzes blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare time and cost estimates for projects. He makes sure the objectives of projects are completed in the allotted amount of time and delivered to our clients with SECO’s high quality standards. In his spare time, Will serves his Church as much as possible. He also enjoys hunting, fishing, and hiking.
Jeff came to SECO from Council Bluffs, Iowa where he worked for Designer Woods as an Estimator. Jeff graduated from Louisiana State University in 1994 with a degree in Accounting & Environmental Science. He also studied History & Biology at Central Community College and graduated with his degrees in 1996. Jeff's educational background, friendly personality, and commitment to the job makes him an asset to the SECO team. In his free time, Jeff enjoys taking his motorcycle out for a ride around the hills.
Bryce supervises, directs, and performs work on individual portions of larger projects. Bryce's ambitious nature leaves him unafraid to take on any project. While enterprising, he also takes direction from Supervisors well and takes great pride in his work. Bryce supervises and directs day-to-day activites of all elements of job site construction on smaller projects that he is assigned to supervise.
As a Superintendent, Tyler oversees, guides, and performs work on significant projects. With talents that extend far beyond the expectations and duties of his role at SECO, Tyler is a pivotal team player who continues to help us provide our clients and customers with exceptional service. Taking leadership of the projects he is assigned to supervise, Tyler maintains phenomenal organization, time management, and is detail-oriented in his direction of the various projects he oversees.
Bob is a man of many talents. He has been in construction for about 30 years and has done just about all of it. He started with welding and then soon decided that construction work was more his style. His hardworking attitude makes it easy for him to be versatile in his work as he does sheetrock, metal work, concrete and everything in between. He oversees the work being done, but truly takes pride in being hardworking and hands on to bring our projects to completion in a timely manner.
As a foreman, Chris sees to it that all projects he takes on are completed to perfection. With his can-do attitude and commitment to fostering a positive and productive work environment in the field and in the office, Chris makes the lives of our clients, customers, and team easier on a daily basis. Versatile in his job duties and responsibilities, Chris makes our team stronger and more efficient every day.
