Pennington County had outgrown its juvenile detention facility long before this project was started. The owner collaborated with other county jurisdictions to create a new regional detention facility and secure half-way house for youth in western South Dakota. This state of the art 30,000 square foot high security correctional facility along with housing space for runaway youth was built to meet the area’s current and future needs. The facility design incorporated extensive use of structural concrete and masonry to provide the security required by a correctional facility along with a full detention security system.
